How do you fly from Colombo to Srinagar?

Skyscanner reports no airline flying Colombo to Srinagar direct. Its fares come out in pounds sterling on the pages we could read; apply the rate of the day when converting. The cheapest flight it finds is £167, next month's returns start at £374, November is its cheapest month, IndiGo its cheapest airline and around 40 days ahead its tip for booking. A direct flight into India plus a second flight to Srinagar is the sensible plan.

Chennai has the shortest first leg, but our Chennai page shows that Chennai has no nonstop to Srinagar either, so it adds a connection. Delhi is the longest of the three first legs but has a direct second leg: on Momondo the Delhi to Srinagar flight leaves daily and takes 1 h 20 min at its fastest, and the Delhi page and Mumbai page carry the dated details. Weigh the longer first leg against a second connection, and your arrival time decides what the first day holds, so share it early.

Can Sri Lankan passport holders use the Indian e-Visa?

Among the passports the official e-Visa portal accepts is Sri Lanka's. Visa length options are a month (30 days), a year (365 days) and five years, and once approved, foreigners and OCI card holders have the 72 hours before arrival to complete the e-Arrival card online. Because rules and fees change, treat the portal on the day you apply as the reference for the fee, processing time and documents, and apply only through it.

What do other governments advise about Jammu and Kashmir?

Read this before you book. Britain's side: the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office keeps an India page (checked 4 November 2026), and it advises against every trip to the territory of Jammu and Kashmir, listing the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, Srinagar city, Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg. Canada's government page says to avoid all travel there, citing the unpredictable security situation. When do the Sri Lankan school terms leave room for a trip?

The Ministry of Education's 2027 schedule, as reported by Newsfirst, runs the first term for Sinhala and Tamil-medium schools from 4 January to 9 April 2027, the second term from 26 April to 30 July 2027 and the third from 30 August to 3 December 2027. Between the first and second terms lies a short April gap, the gap in August is a month long and the year ends in December. Newsfirst adds that Muslim schools hold their first and second terms in several phases, so check yours.

Across the months in the table Colombo's average daily maximum hardly moves, so the contrast is Kashmir's seasons, not its heat. What does a Kashmir trip cost for Sri Lankan travellers?

Think of a TDI land package as deluxe room nights, the Shikara ride, taxes, two meals a day (breakfast and dinner) plus a private vehicle for airport transfers in Srinagar; flights, lunches and entry fees are billed apart. TDI quotes rupees, each amount for one person, with no conversion into Sri Lankan rupees, so use the rate on the day you pay; the airfare stays separate for that reason.

How many days do you need from Sri Lanka?

Treat the two flights as part of the trip. We would not shorten the trip below the 4N/5D Classic, whose route covers Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam. The 5N/6D Explorer closes with a night on a houseboat, the 5N/6D Gulmarg Stay with a Gulmarg night, while the 6N/7D Doodhpathri plan runs longest, which would fit the month-long gap in August.
