How do you fly from Chennai to Srinagar?

Skyscanner says no airline flies direct from Chennai to Srinagar, and Momondo lists no direct flights either. New Delhi is the most common stop: Momondo reports that 71% of its users who chose one-stop flights on this route connected there. IndiGo and Air India are the most popular carriers on Momondo's page. Momondo also lists two-stop itineraries, one of them 23 h 35 min.

Journey time depends on the connection. Momondo lists a fastest flight time of 5 h 30 min, and the shortest average one-way time, 7 h 09 min, for flights via New Delhi. The table shows three itineraries from its page.

These are sample listings for mid and late November and will differ on your dates. The two fare sites disagree on the cheapest month, December on Skyscanner and July on Momondo, and Skyscanner puts the cheapest time to book at around 40 days ahead. By train, Cleartrip gives about 55 h 45 min from Chennai Central to Jammu Tawi, and ConfirmTkt shows the Andaman Express (16031) taking 54 h 40 min to Katra. Cleartrip gives the distance from Chennai to Srinagar as nearly 3,000 km, so a flight with a connection is the practical choice.

What does a Kashmir trip from Chennai cost?

Two things make up the bill: the TDI land package and your flights. The land package covers deluxe-room accommodation, daily breakfast and dinner, a Shikara ride on Dal Lake, Srinagar airport pickup and drop, a private vehicle for transfers and sightseeing, and all taxes. Airfare is not included.

TDI's overview page says packages start from ₹8,550 per person. The 3N/4D row below reads ₹8,100 per person for six travellers, and the price per person falls as the group grows. That overview page also lists other from-prices for the longer packages, for example ₹10,400 for the 4N/5D Classic against ₹13,800 for two travellers in this table, which uses each package page's own price table.

TDI's own listing for the 6N/7D Summer Special says it is valid July to September 2026, a window that had ended by 25 October 2026, so ask for its rate on your dates.

All prices are per person. The last column adds one return fare of ₹25,639 to ₹29,565, the typical range on Momondo; Skyscanner's lowest return fare found is ₹24,919, so the two sites are close. Momondo's search on that page is set to 1 adult, economy, 0 bags, so add the cost of any checked baggage. How many days do you need from Chennai?

Count the journey as part of the trip. The fastest one-stop flight Momondo lists takes 5 h 30 min, so a package that opens with airport pickup and sightseeing suits a flight that lands early. When should you travel from Chennai?

Kashmir is one way to leave Chennai's heat. May is Chennai's hottest month, and the table compares it and June with Srinagar.

The Wikipedia figures are 1991–2020 normals, with Chennai measured at the Nungambakkam observatory. The second Srinagar figures come from a French climate site that uses the same period.

Winter is the opposite case. Read Kashmir in December and Kashmir in January before you pick snow dates, and pack from the Kashmir packing list. Nobody can promise snow on a given day; for your dates we confirm road and weather conditions.

If you travel with school-age children, Live Chennai reports that the Tamil Nadu School Education Department's calendar has a break from 24 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, and summer vacation from 25 April to 31 May 2027. Check your own school's calendar, which may differ.

Will you feel the altitude after leaving Chennai?

If you have been to Ooty, Srinagar is lower: 1,585 m against Ooty's 2,240 m, according to Wikipedia. Gulmarg, which every package in the table above visits, is at 2,650 m. If you have a medical condition, check with your doctor before you book.
