Which Kashmir packages cost under ₹15,000 per person?

Seven plans reach this band, but not for every group size. Read the column that matches your party; “next band” means that group size costs more than ₹15,000.

Two cautions. Keran is a drive to a village on the Line of Control, not a sightseeing circuit. Its not-included list names GST at 5% (5% of ₹9,400 is ₹470) although its price block says taxes are included, so ask whether the price is before GST. The Doodhpathri and Summer Special page text shows no validity window, but their search descriptions have carried a summer one, so ask for their rate on your dates.

Which plans cost ₹15,000 to ₹20,000 and ₹20,000 to ₹30,000?

What sits behind each price: vehicles and hotel names

Most package pages list the vehicle by group size and three hotel tiers (Keran lists two) but print one price per group size, so ask which tier your quote assumes and what the others cost. Tiers 1 to 3 follow the order each page lists them (the pages’ own labels differ: Standard, 3 Star Basic, Option 1). HB is houseboat.

Included in the circuit plans, as the pages list it: rooms from the hotel list, daily breakfast and dinner, a Dal Lake shikara ride (listed as one hour on the other five circuit plans; the Doodhpathri and Summer Special lists give no length), Srinagar airport pickup and drop, a private vehicle and all taxes. The Doodhpathri and Summer Special pages describe a private vehicle and local driver in their introductions but not in their inclusion lists. Left out: airfare, lunch, gondola tickets, the Betaab, Aru and Chandanwari trips, pony rides, guide charges and entrance fees; those two plans also leave out a snow jeep at Tangmarg in heavy snow.

Why is a longer plan cheaper per night?

Divide a table price by its nights and the pattern shows. At four travellers the 3N/4D is about ₹3,040 per person per night, the Classic ₹2,660, the Explorer ₹2,480 and the Gurez plan ₹2,300; the two-night Keran plan is about ₹5,100. This is arithmetic on our tables, not a quote: the plan with the lowest total is not the one with the lowest cost per night. Each table also prints an extra-bed price (₹4,330 on the 3N/4D to ₹8,500 on Gurez); none prints a solo, three-traveller or five-traveller price, so ask.

What will you spend on top of the package price?

A package under ₹15,000 buys the ground arrangements. The costs below are left out. The figures are reference figures from public listings and our own pony page, not package prices; check each fare with the airline, IRCTC or the cable car’s official e-ticket portal when you book.

Worked example from the figures above: four travellers on the 3N/4D pay ₹9,120 each. Add a typical Delhi return flight (₹10,562 to ₹14,537) and gondola Phase I (₹700 to ₹810) and it comes to ₹20,382 to ₹24,467 per person before lunches, ponies and entry fees. For six (₹8,100) it is ₹19,362 to ₹23,447; for two (₹11,950) it is ₹23,212 to ₹27,297. A “₹15,000 package” is a trip of about ₹20,000 or more once you fly in from Delhi.

How can you lower the price of a Kashmir package?

• A bigger group. On the 3N/4D four travellers pay ₹2,830 less each than two, and six pay ₹3,850 less.
• One night fewer. The Classic costs ₹1,850, ₹1,530 and ₹1,390 more per person than the 3N/4D for two, four and six, and adds a Sonmarg day.
• The right tier. Ask which hotel tier the price assumes and what your preferred tier costs.
• Fewer extras. Gondola Phase II, ponies and optional valley trips are paid separately.

How do you compare our price with a cheaper quote?

A lower quote can be fair, or it can leave something out. Put it beside ours on these six points:

1. Hotel names and the night split; “deluxe hotel” with no names cannot be compared.
2. Meals: our circuit plans include breakfast and dinner daily and leave out lunch.
3. Airport pickup and drop, and whether the vehicle is private for transfers and sightseeing.
4. Taxes: our circuit plans say all taxes are included; Keran lists GST at 5% as excluded.
5. The shikara ride, its length and any houseboat night.
6. Exclusions (gondola, ponies, valley trips, entry fees), any validity window and the cancellation terms. On our side, each package page lists its exclusions and a cancellation line; the Doodhpathri and Summer Special page text shows no validity window, so ask.

Is a package cheaper than planning the trip yourself?

We print no do-it-yourself total: we have no verified hotel or taxi rate card for your dates (many of our hotel and taxi service pages show broad price ranges that we do not use here), and an unsourced figure would not help you compare. Price the lines a package bundles (rooms, meals, airport transfers, a vehicle, a shikara ride, taxes) from your own quotes. When is a Kashmir package cheapest?

The Doodhpathri and Summer Special pages say the final price depends on dates, hotel category and group size, and our budget travel and trip-cost guides say shoulder-season rates are lower, though they name different months. Our tables print one price per group size and do not split it by month, so send your dates and we quote the package price for them. What should you do before you book?

Read the current government travel advisories on our safety page; they differ by country and change. Then send us your dates, the number of travellers, your departure city and the extras you want, and ask for the package price, the hotel tier and each extra on its own line.
