What luxury means in Kashmir

The pace of a luxury trip

We suggest fewer places and more nights: two or three nights in Srinagar, two in Gulmarg or Pahalgam and a spare day. Mornings are slow, drives are short and the best activities, such as a private shikara at sunset or a quiet garden morning, are booked in advance. A palace or lake-view hotel gives you space, a spa, a restaurant and the services of a large property, with a view of the lake or the garden. Many luxury travellers spend one night of each, and we advise on the order: houseboat first, when you are fresh, and hotel last, when you want to rest.
