Budget Accommodation Stay in Tangmarg rather than Gulmarg central. Guesthouses in Tangmarg cost ₹1,500–2,500 per night versus ₹4,000+ in Gulmarg. Alternatively, skip the gondola entirely and trek up to Khilanmarg — a 2-hour walk with equally stunning views.

Eating Cheap Street-side stalls near the gondola base serve Maggi, momos, and omelette rolls for ₹50–150. Pack a picnic from Srinagar — bread, cheese, apples, and bottled water. The grocery shop near the central square stocks basics. Avoid the hotel restaurants for lunch — buffet rates start at ₹600 per person.
