Themed collection
Our Kashmir tour packages for senior citizens use the standard TDI plans at a slower pace: few hotel changes, no more than one longer drive a day, easy-step vehicles, ground-floor rooms where we can request them, and a rest day built in. Prices come from our package tables, from ₹11,950 per person for two on the 3N/4D.
Kashmir suits older travellers well when the trip is paced for them: gardens that are mostly flat, a lake to sit beside, and drives with the mountains outside the window. It suits them badly when the plan stacks long drives, hotel changes and climbs into a few days. We are the TDI Holiday Ventures planning desk in Srinagar. We do not sell a separate senior tariff. We take our standard packages, choose the ones that keep the base steady, and slow them down. This page shows which, what they cost on our own tables, and the points to settle before you pay.

Our family trip guide says that for senior guests we routinely arrange SUVs with easy step-in height rather than sedans, request ground-floor or lift-accessible rooms in advance, and build slower itineraries with rest breaks between sightseeing stops, and that our drivers are experienced with elderly travellers. These are the principles we plan to.
| Principle | What it means on the ground |
|---|---|
| One base, not many | Choose a plan with several nights in Srinagar and short day trips, so you unpack once or twice rather than four times |
| No stacked drives | At most one longer drive a day, and never a long drive followed by a climb or a pony ride on the same afternoon |
| An easy vehicle | A private SUV or MUV with a step-in height that suits, not a low sedan, and a driver who stops when you ask |
| Ground-floor or lift rooms | Requested in advance, because not every Kashmir hotel has a lift and some rooms are up stairs |
| A rest day | A day with only a garden, a shikara ride or nothing at all, placed after the longest drive |
| Realistic sights | Gardens, lakes and viewpoints you can reach by car, with the strenuous options left optional |
Every figure is copied from the package's own price table, per person on twin sharing, ex-Srinagar. The hotel lists below are from the package pages.
| Package | Nights | Where you sleep | 2 travellers | 4 travellers | 6 travellers | Pace for an older traveller |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3N/4D Quick Getaway | 3 | Srinagar only; a hotel and a houseboat are both listed, with no night split printed, so ask | ₹11,950 | ₹9,120 | ₹8,100 | Short, with Gulmarg and Pahalgam as day trips; little slack |
| 4N/5D Kashmir Classic | 4 | Srinagar only; a hotel and a houseboat are both listed, with no night split printed, so ask | ₹13,800 | ₹10,650 | ₹9,490 | A good fit: one base, and Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam as separate day trips |
| 5N/6D Explorer | 5 | Srinagar 3 nights, Pahalgam 1, a houseboat 1 | ₹15,900 | ₹12,400 | ₹11,320 | More relaxed days, with one hotel change to Pahalgam and back |
| 5N/6D Gulmarg Stay | 5 | Srinagar 2, Gulmarg or Tangmarg 1, Pahalgam 1, a houseboat 1 | ₹16,300 | ₹12,890 | ₹11,810 | Three changes of base and a night at about 2,650 m; only if you are comfortable with altitude and cold |
For most older travellers we would start with the 4N/5D Classic and add a night or two, since our Kashmir pages say you can extend nights and we re-price the change. Extend in Srinagar, which is the lowest and warmest base. The tables do not split seasons, so we confirm the rate and terms for your dates before you pay.
These drive times come from our own itineraries and are approximate. Traffic, weather and stops add to them.
| Day trip | Drive from Srinagar | Note for an older traveller |
|---|---|---|
| Gulmarg | About 1.5 hours | Twisting climb at the end. The gondola is optional, and the ride is seated |
| Pahalgam | About 2 hours | A gentle valley and a river. A good base for a night, with Betaab and Aru by car |
| Sonmarg | About 3 hours | The longest day trip. We suggest giving it a day of its own, and treating the pony ride to Thajiwas Glacier as optional |
| Gulmarg to Pahalgam | About 3 hours, per the Gulmarg Stay page | A long transfer day; keep the rest of the day empty |
So the order matters. We put the flat Srinagar sights first, to let you settle, then Pahalgam, then Gulmarg, and keep Sonmarg for a day when nobody has driven far the day before. If anyone is tired, we swap the day, which is why a spare day matters more than an extra sight.
Less than in Ladakh, but it is not zero. Srinagar is roughly 1,600 m above sea level. Pahalgam is about 2,200 m, Gulmarg about 2,650 m, and Sonmarg about 2,700 m. The Gulmarg gondola goes higher still: our packages use Phase 1, which reaches the Kongdoori station at about 3,000 m, while Phase 2 climbs close to 4,000 m. Some older travellers feel breathless or tired at these heights, particularly after a long drive. Cold adds to the effort.
Tell us at enquiry about any mobility limit, heart or breathing condition, diabetes or other regular care, so we shape the days and brief the driver. We do not give medical advice or medical care; the hill stations mostly have basic clinics, and the main hospitals are in Srinagar.
Ask for a ground-floor room or a lift. Ask how many steps lead from the vehicle to the door, and whether the bathroom has grab rails. A houseboat is atmospheric, but boarding it is by a gangway, usually from a shikara, and the stairs and doorways can be narrow. Heating also differs from boat to boat; our Dal Lake houseboat page says most deluxe and luxury boats have power backup while standard boats may have limited electricity. If steps are an issue, a hotel is the safer choice for every night, and our packages can be re-priced that way. Our Srinagar hotel booking page covers the hotels.
| Sight | How it feels | Our note |
|---|---|---|
| Mughal gardens | Terraced but largely flat paths | Our family guide calls them largely flat and wheelchair-accessible, one of the easiest stops for grandparents. Go in the morning. Our Srinagar sightseeing tour page shows how a city day is planned |
| Dal Lake shikara | Seated, slow | Boarding needs a steady step; tell the boatman if you want a hand |
| Shankaracharya Temple | A hilltop with steps | Optional. Ask about the climb before you commit |
| Gulmarg gondola Phase 1 | Seated ride, cold at the top | Optional, and weather decides whether it runs |
| Pahalgam river and Betaab Valley | Short walks by car | Pony rides are optional and are paid directly |
| Thajiwas Glacier in Sonmarg | Rough ground, a pony or a walk | Treat as optional for most older travellers |
Our package pages say April to June is pleasant with blooming gardens, and July to September is cooler and greener. Autumn colour comes in October and November. The months we would think twice about for a first senior trip are December to February, when roads can be icy, power cuts are possible and many hotels have no central heating; see our winter packages page if the snow is the reason you want to go. Nobody can promise the weather on a given day, so we keep a spare day. Our month-by-month guide goes deeper.
Send your dates, the ages of the travellers, any mobility or medical points, and whether you prefer a hotel or a houseboat through our contact page. Our site says a Srinagar planner replies within 30 minutes. We then quote a plan with the nights, the vehicle and the rest day as separate lines. For a couple, see our honeymoon packages; for the whole family, our family packages.
Yes, with a plan that suits them. The Mughal gardens, Dal Lake and the scenic drives are gentle, and the valley can be done from one base. The harder parts are the altitude of the hill stations, the cold, and the long drives. Talk to your doctor, keep the pace slow, and tell us any health points at enquiry.
Five to seven nights is comfortable. It leaves a rest day, lets the day trips be spread out, and gives room if the weather changes a plan. A four-night trip works if everyone is fit and the days are not rushed. Our Kashmir pages say nights can be extended, and we re-price the change.
We would start with the 4N/5D Kashmir Classic, because all its nights are in Srinagar and the day trips are separate. The 5N/6D Explorer adds a Pahalgam night. We would be careful with the Gulmarg Stay, which adds more changes of base and a night at altitude. Tell us your parents' health and we suggest the fit.
It can be for some. Pahalgam is around 2,200 m and Gulmarg around 2,650 m, so they sit well above Srinagar. Many older travellers manage, but breathlessness, headaches and tiredness are possible, especially after a long drive. Speak to your doctor, go slowly, drink water, and tell the driver if anyone feels unwell.
Some places are easier than others. Our family guide calls the Mughal gardens largely flat and wheelchair-accessible. Houseboats, hill-station hotels and uneven ground are harder, and few places have ramps. Tell us the details when you enquire, and we plan a route and a vehicle around what you need, and ask the hotels for a suitable room.
Our packages use a private vehicle, with no shared cabs. For senior guests our family guide says we routinely arrange SUVs with easy step-in height rather than sedans. Tell us if anyone has knee or hip problems, and we choose the vehicle and ask the driver to stop when needed.
Tell the driver straight away. We change the plan, rest, or return to the base, and our Srinagar team supports you throughout your stay. We are not a medical service. The hill stations have basic clinics only, and the main hospitals are in Srinagar, which is one reason we keep the base steady.
April to June and September to October are usually the gentlest, with mild days and cold nights. July and August are cooler than the plains and greener. December to February is cold, icy and power-cut-prone, so we suggest it only if the snow is the reason for the trip. We confirm the rate and availability for your dates.
