Kuala Lumpur has direct flights to several Indian cities, but none of them is Srinagar, so a Kashmir trip from Malaysia means a flight to India followed by a second flight north. In order, this guide covers the dated flight facts from Kuala Lumpur, the Indian e-Visa portal on eligibility, UK and Canadian advice on Jammu and Kashmir, the Malaysian school holidays, the cost of a TDI Holiday Ventures land package for each Malaysian traveller and a weather comparison. Planning happens in Srinagar; the package starts when you land at Srinagar airport. All pages were read on one day (checked 4 November 2026).

How do you fly from Kuala Lumpur to Srinagar?

Skyscanner shows no airline flying Kuala Lumpur to Srinagar direct. On the pages we could read the fares come in pounds sterling, so apply the rate of the day. The cheapest flight is £198, returns for next month start at £404, November is its cheapest month and Air India its cheapest carrier; around 40 days ahead is the booking tip. Flying direct into India and then onward to Srinagar is the usual plan.

LegFlights a weekAverage flight timeCheapest flight found
Kuala Lumpur to Chennai, direct53 flights a week3 h 53 min£81
Kuala Lumpur to Kolkata, direct17 flights a week4 h 2 min£98
Kuala Lumpur to Delhi, direct73 flights a week5 h 43 min£140
Kuala Lumpur to SrinagarNo direct flight-£198

Chennai gives the cheapest first leg in the table, but as the Chennai page shows, no nonstop runs from Chennai to Srinagar, so a second connection follows. Delhi's first leg is the longest of the three, yet from Delhi a direct flight to Srinagar runs daily on Momondo (1 h 20 min at the fastest); the Delhi page has the dates. The Kolkata page explains why the fare sites disagree about nonstops there. Your landing time sets the first day, so tell us when you arrive.

Can Malaysian passport holders use the Indian e-Visa?

The official e-Visa portal includes Malaysia among the passports it accepts. The e-Tourist visa there is offered with durations of 30 days, 365 days and five years, and the portal adds that foreigners and OCI card holders can send in the e-Arrival card online within 72 hours before arrival. Because rules and fees change, the portal is the place to read the fee, the processing time and the documents on the day you apply, and you should apply only there.

What do other governments advise about Jammu and Kashmir?

Read this before you book. What the UK government's FCDO says on its India page (checked 4 November 2026) is clear: the UK government tells travellers to avoid any journey into the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir; Sonamarg, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Srinagar city and the Jammu-Srinagar national highway are all named. The Government of Canada's travel page says to avoid all travel there because of the unpredictable security situation. We do not quote an advisory from the Government of Malaysia, so look at your own ministry's guidance. Our safety page sets these next to the US and Australian advice, and notes what insurers may do if your government advises against a trip.

When do the Malaysian school holidays fall next year?

The Malaysian school calendar divides states into two groups, and their dates differ by a day. A secondary source, ecentral.my, which reproduces the Ministry of Education's 2027 academic calendar, gives the mid-year break as 21 May to 5 June 2027 for Group A and 22 May to 6 June 2027 for Group B, and the year-end break as 3 December to 31 December 2027 for Group A and, for Group B, starting a day later on 4 December. It also lists Hari Raya Puasa on 10 and 11 March 2027. This is a secondary source, so check the Ministry's own calendar for your state before you book.

MonthKuala Lumpur, average daily maximumSrinagar, average daily maximum
January32.6 °C7.1 °C
May33.6 °C24.7 °C
July32.8 °C30.0 °C
December32.0 °C9.9 °C

The Kuala Lumpur figures in the table barely change from month to month, meaning Kashmir's seasons, rather than its heat, are the contrast. In July the daily highs are within a few degrees of each other; December finds Srinagar far colder. Worth reading next: Kashmir in autumn, Kashmir in December and Kashmir in May, then the packing list.

What does a Kashmir trip cost for Malaysian travellers?

A Malaysian traveller's TDI land package pays for hotel stays in deluxe rooms, the Shikara ride, taxes, two meals each day (breakfast and dinner) and private-vehicle transfers, with the airport pickup and drop in Srinagar among them. Flights, lunches and entry tickets are separate. TDI's rupee prices are per person and not changed into ringgit; use the rate on the day you pay. The airfare is kept apart for the same reason.

PackageTwo travellersFour travellersSix travellers
4N/5D Kashmir Classic₹13,800₹10,650₹9,490
5N/6D Kashmir Explorer₹15,900₹12,400₹11,320

6N/7D Kashmir with Doodhpathri₹18,200₹14,390₹12,910

Every price is per person. If you want Doodhpathri, remember its listing may be seasonal and ask for the rate on your dates. The overview shows a lowest price of ₹8,550 per person, and a WhatsApp reply gives availability and your exact rate before you book. Kashmir trip cost widens the budget.

How many days do you need from Malaysia?

Two flights eat into the trip. Start from the 4N/5D Classic, whose four stops are Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam. For more time there is the 5N/6D Explorer, which ends on a houseboat, the 5N/6D Gulmarg Stay, which adds a Gulmarg night, or the 6N/7D Doodhpathri plan, the longest of the four and a fit for the mid-year break.

Food and who the packages suit

Questions travellers ask

Is there a direct flight from Kuala Lumpur to Srinagar?

No. Skyscanner lists no airline flying Kuala Lumpur to Srinagar direct (checked 4 November 2026). Fly direct to Chennai, Kolkata or Delhi first, then take a second flight to Srinagar.

How much is a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Srinagar?

Skyscanner prints pounds on this page: the cheapest flight found is £198 and returns for next month start at £404 (checked 4 November 2026). A different date means a different fare, so test yours.

Do Malaysian citizens need a visa for Kashmir?

Malaysia is on the Indian e-Visa portal's eligibility list. Durations of 30 days, 365 days and five years are offered, and the e-Arrival card can be submitted within 72 hours before arrival. The portal lists fees and processing.

What do governments advise about travel to Kashmir?

The UK's FCDO gives advice against any travel to Jammu and Kashmir, while Canada's government issues the same instruction: avoid all travel (both checked 4 November 2026). The safety page explains more, and your insurer should answer in writing.

When are the Malaysian school holidays next year, by state group?

A secondary source reproducing the Ministry of Education's calendar gives the mid-year break as 21 May to 5 June 2027 for Group A and 22 May to 6 June 2027 for Group B. Check the Ministry's own calendar for your state.

How many days do I need for Kashmir from Malaysia?

Our minimum is five days, since two flights take most of the first and last days. Even then the 4N/5D Classic takes in Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam; longer plans mean extra nights.

Does the TDI package include flights from Kuala Lumpur?

No, the package leaves out flights. It includes deluxe-room accommodation, breakfast and dinner every day, taxes, the Dal Lake Shikara ride and a private vehicle for pickup and drop at Srinagar airport; airfare and lunches are yours, so budget for both.
