How do you fly from Kathmandu to Srinagar?

Skyscanner offers no direct Kathmandu to Srinagar flight. Fares on the readable pages come in pounds sterling; convert them at that day's rate. The cheapest flight is £141, next month's returns start at £252, its cheapest month is November, Air India is its cheapest airline, and its booking tip is around 40 days ahead. A direct flight into India and then a second flight north is the usual plan.

LegFlights a weekAverage flight timeCheapest flight found
Kathmandu to Delhi, direct106 flights a week1 h 56 min£75
Kathmandu to Kolkata, direct10 flights a week1 h 45 min£118
Kathmandu to SrinagarNo direct flight-£141

Delhi has the more frequent service in the table. Onward from Delhi, Momondo shows a daily direct flight to Srinagar, with 1 h 20 min as the quickest time. The Delhi page has the dated details, and the other route is on the Kolkata page. Keep a wide gap between the legs, and tell us your timings so we plan day one around them.

What entry rules apply from Nepal?

The rule for Nepali citizens could not be confirmed from a source we can quote, so please check it before you book. The Indian e-Visa portal lets foreigners and OCI card holders submit the e-Arrival card online within 72 hours before they arrive, and it offers an e-Tourist visa valid for a month (30 days), a year (365 days) or five years, but the eligibility list we read does not name Nepal. The Embassy of India in Kathmandu lists visa services on its site, so use its site and the e-Visa portal for the rule that applies to your passport, and carry valid identification.

What do other governments advise about Jammu and Kashmir?

Read this before you book. Britain's FCDO publishes an India page (checked 4 November 2026) that discourages every visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, singling out Srinagar city, the Jammu-Srinagar national highway, Sonamarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam. Canada's travel advice lists the territory under avoid all travel, because of the unpredictable security situation. We quote nothing from the Government of Nepal; your own ministry's guidance is for you to read. Our safety page holds these beside the US and Australian advisories and notes how insurance cover can be affected when a government advises against a trip.

When should you leave Nepal?

The table shows the gap between Kathmandu and Srinagar is small in July and widest in December. Wikipedia's normals for Tribhuvan airport give the average daily maximum below, against Srinagar's. A dependable Nepali school or festival calendar for next year could not be found, so rely on your own dates.

MonthKathmandu, average daily maximumSrinagar, average daily maximum
May29.2 °C24.7 °C
July28.7 °C30.0 °C
October27.2 °C23.0 °C
December20.2 °C9.9 °C

Kathmandu is cooler than Srinagar in July and warmer in May, October and December, so a Kathmandu wardrobe covers the warm months but not the Gulmarg winter. Useful reading: Kashmir in December, Kashmir in autumn and Kashmir in May; the packing list covers kit.

What does a Kashmir trip cost for travellers from Nepal?

A TDI land package gives you deluxe rooms, a Shikara ride, taxes, breakfast and dinner daily, and a private vehicle that handles Srinagar airport pickup and drop; flights, lunches and entry tickets cost extra. TDI's rupees are Indian rupees, per person, and are not converted to Nepali rupees; use the rate on the day you pay, and keep the airfare separate for the same reason.

PackageTwo travellersFour travellersSix travellers
4N/5D Kashmir Classic₹13,800₹10,650₹9,490
5N/6D Kashmir Explorer₹15,900₹12,400₹11,320
5N/6D Gulmarg Stay₹16,300₹12,890₹11,810
6N/7D Kashmir with Doodhpathri₹18,200₹14,390₹12,910

Each price covers one person. If you want Doodhpathri, note that its listing may be seasonal and ask for the current rate. ₹8,550 per person is the lowest price on the overview. WhatsApp gives availability and your final rate before you commit; Kashmir trip cost has the broader budget.

How many days do you need from Nepal?

The two flights belong to the trip, and the first and last days are mostly travel. The shortest option, the 4N/5D Classic, which covers Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam, is the least we would suggest; details are on the 4N/5D Classic page. For longer stays there is the 5N/6D Explorer, ending on a houseboat, the 5N/6D Gulmarg Stay, adding a Gulmarg night, and the 6N/7D Doodhpathri plan, the longest.

Food and who the packages suit

Lunch is the one meal not in the price. Mention your diet when you enquire, and the vegetarian, vegan, Jain and halal guide shows what the kitchen needs to know. For a couple there are the honeymoon packages, for a family the family packages, for travellers with parents the senior citizen packages. Other cities are listed on Kashmir tour packages by city.

Do Nepali citizens need a visa for Kashmir?

We could not confirm it from a source we can quote. The eligibility list on the Indian e-Visa portal, as we read it, omits Nepal, and the Embassy of India in Kathmandu lists visa services on its site. Check both official sites before you buy a ticket.

At least five days: both flights absorb most of the first and last. Still, the 4N/5D Classic takes you through Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg and Pahalgam; longer plans mean more nights.

Does the TDI package include flights from Kathmandu?

No. Flights and lunches are left out; the package does include deluxe rooms, the Dal Lake Shikara ride, taxes, breakfast plus dinner and a private vehicle for Srinagar airport transfers.
