How to Choose a Kashmir Tour Package: Compare Days, Route and Price

Which Kashmir tour package is best for you?

No plan is best for everyone. The right one depends on how many days you have, where you want to sleep, how many travellers share the vehicle and the month you travel. The table lines the seven plans up on those points, so you can see what each extra night adds.

Prices are per person, twin sharing, with a private vehicle and taxes included. Night counts come from each page's hotel list; the Explorer's highlights say two Srinagar hotel nights and the Gulmarg Stay's day plan starts on a houseboat, so ask for the final night order in your quote. Each page lists three hotel categories but prints one price per group size, so ask which category a quote assumes.

How many days should a Kashmir trip take?

It depends on how many places you want to sleep in. The 3N/4D and the 4N/5D use Srinagar as the base, with Gulmarg, Pahalgam and (on the 4N/5D) Sonmarg as day trips. The 5N/6D Explorer puts a night in Pahalgam, the 5N/6D Gulmarg Stay puts nights in Pahalgam and Gulmarg, the 6N/7D plans put nights in both, and the 8N/9D plan adds Gurez and Tulail. How does the price change with group size?

Each plan's table prints a lower price per person as the group grows. On the 3N/4D the price falls from ₹11,950 for two travellers to ₹9,120 for four and ₹8,100 for six, which is ₹3,850 less per person between two and six. On the 8N/9D Gurez Valley plan it falls from ₹25,350 to ₹15,900. An extra bed costs ₹4,330 on the 3N/4D and ₹8,500 on the 8N/9D.

What is included in every plan, and what costs extra?

Each price covers accommodation as per the hotel list, daily breakfast and dinner, a shikara ride on Dal Lake, Srinagar airport pickup and drop, and a private vehicle, with taxes included. Airfare and lunches are not included, and the plans that sell Gulmarg add the gondola as an extra: see our gondola ticket guide. Which month should you choose?

Kashmir is a year-round destination, and the plan stays the same while the month changes the weather, the crowds and what is open. Nobody can promise snow, open roads or running lifts for your dates, so ask about the ones that matter to you.

What should you ask before you pay for any Kashmir package?

• Which hotel or houseboat is named for each night, and what does "or similar" mean?

• Which vehicle is used for your group size, and does it stay with you for the whole trip?
• What is left out of the price: flights, lunches, gondola tickets, pony rides, entry fees?
• Which dates does the rate cover, and what changes if you travel on other dates?
• What happens to the plan if a road, a lift or a sight is closed?
