TDI Holiday Ventures offers exciting ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) rides in Gulmarg, an adventure activity that combines the thrill of off-road driving with the stunning beauty of Gulmarg's meadows and forests.
Ride a powerful quad bike through designated trails in Gulmarg, navigating through meadows, forest paths, and gentle slopes. The activity is suitable for both beginners and experienced riders, with trained guides accompanying every ride.
Gulmarg's vast meadows and forest trails provide the perfect terrain for ATV riding. The activity offers an adrenaline rush while allowing you to cover more ground and explore areas that are not easily accessible on foot.
All ATV rides include safety briefing, helmet and protective gear, and trained guides. Riders must be at least 16 years old. Different ATV models are available for different skill levels.
Experience the thrill of ATV riding in the beautiful meadows of Gulmarg. Contact TDI Holiday Ventures for booking and pricing.
You ride a four-wheeled quad bike along designated trails with a guide, across open meadow, along forest paths and over gentle slopes. It is a guided ride, not a free roam: the guide sets the route and the pace, and you stay on the trail, because Gulmarg's meadows are a much-visited landscape. A session is short, a slot inside a longer Gulmarg day rather than a day in itself. Our Gulmarg guide describes the rest of the resort.
| Part of the ride | What we arrange | What you handle |
|---|---|---|
| The slot | We book the ride for your date and time and confirm the session length and price in writing | Tell us your dates, the number of riders and their ages |
| Riding gear | Our page says a helmet and protective gear come with every ride | Wear closed shoes and warm clothes |
| Safety | A briefing before you start and a trained guide with you throughout | Follow the guide, including on speed and stops |
| Paperwork | Our page says no driving licence is required and valid ID is enough; we confirm it when you book | Carry an original photo ID |
| Getting there | A private vehicle from Srinagar if you want one; see our Srinagar to Gulmarg taxi page | Allow about two hours each way by road |
| Everything else | Not part of the ride: the gondola ticket, meals and other activities | Pay for these separately |
It suits teenagers and adults who like a bumpy, fast-moving outdoor activity. Our page says beginners are welcome because a guide accompanies every ride. Skip it, or ask your doctor first, if you have a back, neck or heart condition, if you are pregnant, or if the altitude is making you unwell. Gulmarg is high enough that some people feel breathless on the first day, so pace yourself and leave the ride for the afternoon if you have just arrived.
| Months | Ground and weather | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| May to June | Green meadows, damp patches and wildflowers | Soft, sometimes muddy ground after rain; cool mornings |
| July to September | Green meadows with showers, cloud and mist | Mist can cut visibility, and slots may move |
| October to November | Crisp air, golden light and cold mornings | Short days and an early chill; winter can arrive early |
| December to March | Snow cover; our page says snow rides are available | Depends on snow depth and weather; the ski season is busy, so book early |
Rain, fog, high wind or heavy snow can pause rides, and the guide decides on the day. Our best time to visit Gulmarg guide covers the seasons in more detail.
Our packing list covers all four seasons.
Many visitors combine the meadow, the gondola and one activity. Fix the gondola first, because its tickets are bought from the operator and it has closed days, then fit the ATV around it. A relaxed order is to reach Gulmarg in the morning, ride the gondola when your slot opens, have lunch, and book the ATV for early afternoon, while the light and weather are usually still good.
Other things to add are a pony ride, paragliding in its season, and in winter our Gulmarg ski packages. If you would rather not rush, see our 5N/6D Gulmarg stay package and the guide to where to stay in Gulmarg.
ATV riding is an adventure sport, and we cannot promise it is without risk. Quad bikes can tip on slopes, slide on wet or snowy ground and collide if a rider goes too fast. Our page describes a briefing, a helmet, protective gear and a guide for every ride. Your part is to listen, keep to the guide's pace and stop if you feel unwell. Check that your travel insurance covers adventure activities, and if the guide says conditions are unsafe, accept that and reschedule.

The price depends on the session length, the season and demand, so we do not print one rate on this page. Send your date and group size on WhatsApp and we confirm the price in writing before you pay. Ask what the session length is, and whether the helmet and guide are included, which our page says they are.
Our page says no driving licence is required and that valid photo ID is enough for registration. Requirements can change, so we confirm the paperwork when you book. Carry an original ID, and do not ride if you are unsure how to control the vehicle after the briefing.
Our page says yes, because a trained guide gives a briefing and accompanies the ride. Beginners should start slowly, keep to the guide's pace and avoid steep or wet ground. It is not suitable if you have a back, neck or heart condition, are pregnant or feel unwell; ask your doctor first.
Our page says riders must be at least 16, and that riders under 18 need parental consent. Younger children cannot ride, but they can enjoy the meadow, a pony ride or the gondola instead. We confirm the age rule when you book.
Our page says snow rides are available in the winter months, but they depend on snow depth, the trail and the weather, and they can be paused in a storm. Winter is also the busiest ski season, so book early, wear waterproof layers and gloves, and keep a spare day in your plan.
Rain, fog, high wind or heavy snow can pause rides, and the guide decides on the day. We ask the operator to move your slot within your Gulmarg day where we can, or to use a spare day.
