How do you fly from Japan to Srinagar?

No airline flies Tokyo to Srinagar direct, says Skyscanner. Its fares are printed in pounds on the pages we could read, so convert at the day's rate. The cheapest flight to Srinagar is £332, with February the cheapest month. Tokyo to Delhi is the busy leg: 86 flights a week, 9 h 37 min on average, a cheapest flight of £135 and returns for next month from £352; IndiGo and Japan Airlines are among the direct carriers. In practice: fly to Delhi, then fly north.

Delhi to Srinagar is the easy second leg: Momondo has a direct flight every day, fastest 1 h 20 min (the Delhi page has dates). Plan a rest day in Delhi, or one at the front of the package, after the long flight from Japan, and send us your landing time.

Can Japanese passport holders use the Indian e-Visa?

India's e-Visa portal lists Japan among the countries whose passports can use it. Three e-Tourist durations exist: 30 days, 365 days and five years. Anyone who is a foreigner or an OCI card holder fills in the e-Arrival card online at any time within 72 hours before arrival. Since fees, rules and processing change, rely on the portal on the day you apply, and apply nowhere else.

What do other governments advise about Jammu and Kashmir?

Read this before you book. Britain's FCDO (its India page, checked 4 November 2026) tells travellers not to visit the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at all; the page names Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg, the city of Srinagar and the Jammu-Srinagar highway. Canada's page ('avoid all travel') gives the unpredictable security situation as the reason. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan's overseas safety pages returned no content when we tried, so nothing from them is quoted here; read the ministry's current notice on Jammu and Kashmir yourself. When should you leave Japan?

Tokyo is milder than tropical cities, so the gap with Kashmir is narrower, and in April and October Srinagar is the warmer by day. The table pairs Wikipedia's Tokyo and Srinagar normals (average daily maximum). A clean holiday list and school calendar for Japan could not be extracted for next year; use your own dates.

What does a Kashmir trip cost for travellers from Japan?

The TDI land package, for a traveller from Japan: nights in deluxe rooms, the Shikara ride, taxes, two daily meals (breakfast, dinner) and transfers by private vehicle, including the airport pickup and drop at Srinagar. Not included: flights, lunches, entry tickets. TDI prices are in Indian rupees per person and are not converted into yen; apply the rate on the day of payment. How many days do you need from Japan?

Both flights belong in the plan, so the first and last days are largely travel. For Japanese visitors the 4N/5D Classic is the shortest we would suggest (Srinagar, Sonmarg, Gulmarg, Pahalgam). Longer: the 5N/6D Explorer (houseboat on the last night), the 5N/6D Gulmarg Stay (one night close to Gulmarg) and the 6N/7D Doodhpathri plan, which is the longest.
