This Tsomoriri Lake tour package takes the classic Ladakh circuit further into Changthang, the high-altitude plateau where Changpa nomads still herd pashmina goats across some of the most remote terrain in India. Tsomoriri itself, a Ramsar-protected wetland at roughly 14,000 ft, is a breeding ground for rare birds including the bar-headed goose and Brahmini duck — a genuine wildlife and nature draw beyond the usual scenic stops. Over 7 nights / 8 days, you’ll also cover Nubra Valley, the Balti village of Turtuk, and an overnight stay at Pangong Lake, before crossing Tsokar Lake and the dramatic Taglang La pass on the return to Leh.
It’s the right pick for travellers drawn to Ladakh’s wilder, less-photographed side — nomad culture and high-altitude wetlands rather than just monasteries and mountain passes.

Tsomoriri is quieter, more remote, and protected as a Ramsar wetland site — home to breeding populations of rare birds like the bar-headed goose and Brahmini duck, plus nearby Changpa nomad settlements, giving it a wilder, more ecological character compared to Pangong’s more scenic, photographed shoreline.
Tsomoriri and Tsokar Lake are known for birdlife, and Tsokar in particular is a good spot for sighting the kiang (Tibetan wild ass). Sightings aren’t guaranteed but are common during the travel season.
Ladakh, including the Changthang plateau, is accessible roughly June through September, when high passes like Taglang La are clear of snow. Bird activity at Tsomoriri is often best in early summer.
Leh sits at approximately 3,500m and Taglang La reaches around 5,300m, so acclimatization on Day 1 is essential. We recommend staying hydrated and informing your guide of any symptoms — our team is experienced in managing high-altitude travel across this route.
