Themed collection
Vaishno Devi and Kashmir fit one trip: the Vande Bharat joins Jammu Tawi, Katra and Srinagar in under five hours. TDI's Srinagar packages are from ₹8,100 per person (six travellers, 3N/4D; ₹11,950 each for two); the Katra part is a custom plan, priced on request. The Shrine Board, not TDI, issues registration and helicopter tickets. As of 25 October 2026.

You can do the Vaishno Devi yatra and a Kashmir holiday in one journey. We are the TDI Holiday Ventures planning desk in Srinagar. Our priced packages start in Srinagar, so the Katra half is a custom plan priced on request; we publish no fixed Vaishno Devi package price. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board runs the yatra, including registration and helicopter tickets. Below: Katra to Srinagar by train or road, a helicopter-or-walk decision box and our Kashmir prices.

Quick Escape 3 Nights / 4 DaysSrinagar · Gulmarg · Pahalgam
From₹11,950per person · twin sharing
Why it fits: The shortest of the four Kashmir halves listed here: three nights from Srinagar with Gulmarg and Pahalgam as day trips, for a trip with limited leave.
Popular 4 Nights / 5 DaysSrinagar · Sonmarg · Gulmarg · Pahalgam
From₹13,800per person · twin sharing
Why it fits: Adds a Sonmarg day to the three-night plan, with all four nights based in Srinagar (hotel and Dal Lake houseboat), so there is no change of town after the train.
Best Seller 5 Nights / 6 DaysSrinagar · Sonmarg · Gulmarg · Pahalgam
From₹15,900per person · twin sharing
Why it fits: The full valley circuit with a Pahalgam night and a houseboat last night, for travellers who can give Kashmir six days.
Value Pick 5 Nights / 6 DaysSrinagar · Sonmarg · Gulmarg · Pahalgam
From₹16,300per person · twin sharing
Why it fits: Includes a night in Gulmarg on the Premium and 4 Star tiers (Tangmarg on the 3 Star Basic tier), so the gondola is less of a same-day rush after a long journey.
Katra is the base for the yatra and a halt on the Vande Bharat line, so you can travel by rail without doubling back. We suggest Katra first. The Shrine Board says devotees often wait 12 to 20 hours for darshan in peak periods (a page dated 9 September 2023 on its site), so the yatra is the half most likely to run late, and each of our four packages ends with a drop at Srinagar airport, where you fly home from.
| Order | How it runs | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Katra first, then Kashmir (our suggestion) | Reach Jammu Tawi or Katra, do the yatra, take the train to Srinagar, follow a Kashmir package, fly home from Srinagar. | Keep a buffer night before the train. |
| Kashmir first, then Katra | Fly into Srinagar, follow the package, take the train to Katra, finish at the shrine, go home from Jammu or Katra. | The package ends with an airport drop, so the train to Katra is arranged separately. |
A sample sequence (our suggestion, not a priced package):
| Way | Time | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Vande Bharat train | About three hours at the June 2025 launch (DD News). Jammu Tawi to Srinagar takes 4 hours 40 to 50 minutes by the timings IANS lists for the service extended on 30 April 2026. | Katra is a halt. Read the live timetable and fare for your date on IRCTC. |
| Road, taxi or private car | Six to seven hours Katra to Srinagar (DD News, June 2025). Jammu to Srinagar is 290 km and 6 to 7 hours on NH-44 (Srinagar district administration, updated 16 March 2026). | Our how to reach Kashmir guide has dated road notes; our Jammu to Srinagar taxi page lists a Katra stop for pilgrims. |
| Fly via Jammu | The Shrine Board says air passengers must break the journey at Jammu. Jammu to Katra is about 50 km, 70 to 80 minutes by taxi. | Adds a taxi and a flight; the how-to-reach guide has the Jammu to Srinagar flight. |
The Vande Bharat timetable as announced when the service was extended to Jammu Tawi (IANS, 29 April 2026; News On AIR, 30 April 2026 for 26401 and 26402):
| Train | From | Departs | To | Arrives | Does not run (IANS) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 26401 | Jammu Tawi | 06:20 | Srinagar | 11:10 | Tuesday |
| 26402 | Srinagar | 14:00 | Jammu Tawi | 18:50 | Tuesday |
| 26404 | Srinagar | 08:00 | Jammu Tawi | 12:40 | Wednesday |
| 26403 | Jammu Tawi | 13:20 | Srinagar | 18:00 | Wednesday |
IANS lists Katra as a halt on 26401 and 26404 but prints no Katra times: read them for your date on IRCTC. Rest days differ by report: the Kashmir Observer (29 April 2026) says no Tuesday service, while IANS lists the second pair as off on Wednesdays. The fare at the June 2025 launch was ₹715 in the chair car and ₹1,320 in executive class (Kashmir Observer, 8 June 2025; one way or return is not stated). Read today's fare on IRCTC.
Arrival time shapes the first Kashmir day: 11:10 leaves the afternoon for the day-one programme on the package pages, 18:00 does not. The packages print airport pickup and drop only. For a train arrival, send us the train number and ask whether a station pickup can be quoted as part of the custom plan.
Two helicopter products are easy to confuse. The Shrine Board sells helicopter tickets, online and, for same-day travel, at its Niharika Bhawan counter in Katra (the shuttle operator's page). TDI does not issue, hold or resell them. The operator says it has no booking rights and that no agent is authorised, although its page lists its own counter near the Bhawan for one-way Sanjichhat to Katra tickets; ask the Shrine Board which counter is authorised.
| Option | What the Shrine Board and the operator say | Suits | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Walk from Katra | 13.0 km to the Bhawan in the board's distance table. Registration is free; each pilgrim needs a separate RFID Yatra Access card from the counter near the Katra bus stand. | Walkers who can allow for crowds | The peak periods below. |
| Katra to Sanjichhat shuttle | The operator lists a 4-minute flight, then 2.5 km and 30 to 40 minutes on foot to the Bhawan; palkies, ponies and porters are available (operator). ₹2,320 one way and ₹4,640 return, GST included, in the table valid 16 October 2025 to 15 October 2026. | Pilgrims who want to skip the climb but can manage the last 2.5 km | The fare after 15 October 2026 and the booking window: see our Vaishno Devi helicopter booking guide. |
| Jammu to Bhawan package | Shrine Board SOP dated 7 June 2024: Jammu airport to the Panchi helipad near the Bhawan, ₹35,000 per passenger same day return or ₹60,000 next day return, with transport to the shrine, priority darshan and a ropeway ticket to Bhairon temple; a sortie needs four confirmed passengers. The Board's order of 29 August 2025 raised the one-way helicopter ticket price on this sector from ₹12,100 to ₹12,710 (effective 1 September 2025 to 24 June 2026) and refers to a revision of the package prices without stating them, so the ₹35,000 and ₹60,000 are the 2024 figures. | A tight schedule and a larger budget | Read the current package price, and whether it is on sale for your date, on the Shrine Board portal. |
The board tells pilgrims to reschedule or postpone when IMD or the district administration issues heavy-rain, cloudburst or landslide alerts. Nobody can promise a flight or a clear day, so keep a buffer night before any train you cannot change. Fares, baggage rules and fake-site checks are in the helicopter guide above; our Vaishno Devi destination page gives the overview of the shrine.
The four packages run from ₹8,100 per person (six travellers on the 3N/4D Quick Getaway; ₹11,950 each for two) to ₹16,300. Every price below is copied from the package's own table, per person on twin sharing, ex-Srinagar.
| Package | Nights | 2 travellers | 4 travellers | 6 travellers | Extra bed |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3N/4D Quick Getaway | 3 | ₹11,950 | ₹9,120 | ₹8,100 | ₹4,330 |
| 4N/5D Classic | 4 | ₹13,800 | ₹10,650 | ₹9,490 | ₹6,370 |
| 5N/6D Explorer | 5 | ₹15,900 | ₹12,400 | ₹11,320 | ₹6,610 |
| 5N/6D with a Gulmarg stay | 5 | ₹16,300 | ₹12,890 | ₹11,810 | ₹6,820 |
The package pages print deluxe rooms as per the hotel list, daily breakfast and dinner, a one-hour shikara ride, Srinagar airport pickup and drop, a private vehicle and all taxes. Airfare, lunches, Gulmarg gondola tickets, ponies, guide charges and entrance fees are excluded, and none of the prices covers the Katra nights, the train or a helicopter. Our arithmetic for four travellers: ₹9,120 each is ₹36,480 on the 3N/4D, and ₹12,890 each is ₹51,560 on the Gulmarg-stay package, before those extras. Families can start from our Kashmir family tour packages; every itinerary is on the packages page. The Katra part is priced on request because it depends on your nights there, the room class, the transfer vehicle and the season.

|---|---|---|

India Meteorological Department normals for 1991 to 2020, mean daily minimum to maximum, for Katra and Srinagar. Higher up the track the Shrine Board's own table prints −2 to 13 °C in winter and 15 to 30 °C in summer for the Bhawan.
| Month | Katra (IMD) | Srinagar (IMD) |
|---|---|---|
| March | 12.6 to 23.1 °C | 4.3 to 15.5 °C |
| May | 21.3 to 33.7 °C | 11.2 to 24.7 °C |
| July | 23.2 to 31.0 °C; 514.3 mm of rain on 17.0 rainy days | 18.4 to 30.0 °C; 64.0 mm on 5.0 rainy days |
| October | 16.3 to 27.8 °C | 6.2 to 23.0 °C |
| December | 8.1 to 18.5 °C | −1.6 to 9.9 °C |
The board lists weekends in May and June, the second half of December and school, college or office holiday blocks as heavy-rush periods (Yatra Registration page), and says December and January witness snowfall. Its Best Season page also names May to July, the Chaitra and Sharad-Ashwin Navratras and New Year vacations as peak rush, so check Navratri dates before choosing March or October. Our reading of the temperature table, not a forecast: March and October sit between the extremes on both sides, and that reading ignores crowds. | Item | What we found | What we use |
|---|---|---|
| Katra to the Bhawan on foot | 13.0 km in the Shrine Board's distance table; 12 km on our destination page. | 12 to 13 km. |
| Sanjichhat to the Bhawan | 2.5 km (the shuttle operator); 3.5 km if you subtract 9.5 km from 13.0 km in the board's table. | 2.5 km on the operator's word; allow more. |
| Rest day of the Srinagar trains | No service on Tuesdays (Kashmir Observer); 26401 and 26402 off Tuesdays, 26403 and 26404 off Wednesdays (IANS). | Confirm your date on IRCTC. |
Send us your dates, the number of travellers, where you start (Jammu, Katra or Srinagar), how many nights you want in Katra and whether you plan to walk or fly. We plan the Katra nights, the transfers and a Kashmir package around your yatra day through our contact page, and quote the custom part. Registration and any helicopter ticket stay with the Shrine Board.
Yes. The Vande Bharat links Katra and Srinagar, and our Kashmir packages start in Srinagar. We plan the Katra nights and transfers as a custom plan, priced on request, and add one of the four Kashmir packages above. The Shrine Board issues your yatra registration and any helicopter ticket, not TDI.
About three hours at the June 2025 launch, according to DD News. Since 30 April 2026 the trains start at Jammu Tawi and take 4 hours 40 to 50 minutes end to end, for example 06:20 to 11:10 on 26401, with Katra as a halt. Read Katra's stop time for your date on IRCTC.
No. TDI publishes prices only for its Srinagar packages: the four above run from ₹8,100 per person (six travellers on the 3N/4D Quick Getaway) to ₹16,300 (two travellers on the Gulmarg-stay package), by group size. The Katra nights, transfers and train are a custom plan, priced on request once we have your dates, group size and room class.
Add your Katra nights to the Kashmir nights. Our arithmetic: two nights in Katra plus the 3-night package is five nights, and plus a 5-night package is seven, before travel days from your home city and any buffer night. The 3N/4D is the shortest of the four packages above.
No. Registration is free and run by the Shrine Board, and helicopter tickets are sold by the Shrine Board, online and at its Katra counter for same-day travel; the shuttle operator says no agent is authorised to book them. We plan around them: a room in Katra, the transfers and the Kashmir half. Our helicopter guide covers the portal and fake-site checks.
Yes. DD News put the road at six to seven hours when the train started in June 2025, and the Srinagar district administration gives 290 km and 6 to 7 hours for Jammu to Srinagar on NH-44. Winter weather can change that, so ask us to check the road before any highway transfer.
Facts last verified 25 October 2026. Conditions, fares and rules change: confirm anything that affects your booking with us on WhatsApp before you pay.
