Pune’s proximity to Mumbai gives its residents excellent access to Kashmir flights. The growing direct flight options from Pune’s Lohegaon Airport make planning a Kashmir trip easier than ever.
Flight Connectivity
Pune Airport operates direct flights to Srinagar with IndiGo and SpiceJet. Flight time is approximately 3 hours. Many Pune travellers also choose to fly from Mumbai (2.5 hours by road from Pune) for more flight options and better fares.
Recommended Packages
The 3-night Kashmir Quick Getaway (₹8,550/person) is ideal for Pune’s working professionals looking for a weekend escape. The 5-night Kashmir Explorer (₹12,500/person) suits families and longer holidays. Custom honeymoon packages with luxury houseboat stays are our most requested from Pune couples.
Best Season
Summer (April-June) sees maximum bookings as Pune heats up. Autumn (September-November) is perfect for the photography crowd. Winter (December-February) attracts adventure seekers and honeymooners.
Why Punekars Love Kashmir
The slower pace of life in Kashmir resonates with Pune’s own relaxed culture. The valley’s café scene, garden restaurants, and heritage walks appeal to Pune’s educated, travel-savvy population. Many Punekars also choose Kashmir for corporate retreats and team outings.
Getting from Pune to Srinagar
Pune's airport offers flights to Srinagar, direct in some seasons and with a connection through Delhi at other times, and the direct flight takes about three hours. Some Pune travellers drive to Mumbai for a wider choice of flights and fares, which adds a few hours on the road; check the current timetable and weigh the saving against the extra travel. Book early for April to June and the festival weeks, and keep a connection comfortable. Arrive in daylight where you can.
When Pune travellers go
Summer, from April to June, is the classic escape from the heat, and October and November are popular for chinar colour and the festival breaks. December to February suit snow lovers. The monsoon months of July and August have showers and yatra traffic. For long weekends, book early, since flights and hotels fill fast, and ask us about the quieter weeks.
What travellers from Pune usually ask for
Pune travellers are often couples and small families, many on their first Kashmir trip, who want a well-organised plan with time to relax. Students and friends travel in groups for a short break. They ask about weather, the gondola, a houseboat night and good food. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian options are easy to arrange, and we can suggest quiet hotels for those who want calm. Honeymooners ask for a private shikara and a candlelit dinner.
A plan that fits a Pune schedule
A long weekend of three nights fits Srinagar and Gulmarg; five nights add Pahalgam; six or seven nights give a relaxed pace with a spare day. If you fly from Mumbai, add the drive to your timing and plan the first day lightly. Our Kashmir 3-day itinerary and 4-day itinerary show how to use a short trip, and the 5-day itinerary covers a fuller plan.
Packages that suit this trip
Pune travellers often choose between a long-weekend break, a classic first trip and a fuller circuit.

Practical notes for travellers from Pune
Pune's climate is mild, so layers are essential in Kashmir: a warm jacket for evenings in summer and proper winter gear from November to February. Carry ID for every traveller, keep tickets and medicines in hand luggage and ask your operator about mobile coverage, since prepaid connections from other states may not work in Jammu and Kashmir. Allow time at the airport for security checks on departure.
Making a short break work
On a long weekend, choose one base and keep the plan simple. Land early, spend the afternoon on the lake, take a day trip to Gulmarg and leave on the last evening. Pick hotels near the airport or the lake for short stays, and avoid a long drive on the first or last day. If you are flying from Mumbai, add the road time to your plan, and book a late return flight to make the most of the last day.
Ideas for a second visit
If you have been once, look for quieter places such as Doodhpathri, Yousmarg and Aharbal, which are easy days from Srinagar, or try Kashmir in winter for snow. Our hidden gems guide lists them, and our Kashmir in winter guide describes the cold season.
How booking works
Tell us your dates, the number of travellers, your airport and any food needs. We suggest a plan, confirm hotels, vehicle and inclusions in writing and keep a spare day for weather. You book the flights, and we fit the plan to your times.
Questions travellers ask
Which airport is better for Kashmir, Pune or Mumbai?
Pune is closer, while Mumbai has more flights and sometimes lower fares. Check the timetable and weigh the saving against the drive.
How many nights do I need from Pune?
Three nights for a long weekend with Srinagar and Gulmarg, and five to seven nights for a relaxed trip that includes Pahalgam and a spare day.
When is the best time from Pune?
April to June for cool hills, October and November for autumn colour and the festival breaks, and December to February for snow.
