Surat, the diamond city of India, has excellent access to Kashmir via air and rail. Whether you are planning a family vacation, honeymoon, or group trip, here is everything you need to know about Kashmir packages from Surat.
How to Reach
Surat Airport has limited direct flights to Srinagar. Most travellers fly via Mumbai (1-hour connecting flight) or take a direct flight from Surat to Delhi and then connect to Srinagar. Total travel time is approximately 6-7 hours. Alternatively, overnight trains from Surat to Jammu and then a scenic road journey to Srinagar is an option for budget travellers.
Popular Packages
3-night Kashmir Family Special (₹9,500/person) and 5-night Kashmir Honeymoon Deluxe (₹14,500/person) are top sellers among Surat travellers. Both include airport transfers, all meals, and comfortable accommodation. Custom packages with hotel upgrades and extended stays are available.
Seasonal Recommendations
Summer (April-June) is peak season for Surat families escaping the heat. Winter (December-February) attracts couples wanting a snow holiday. Spring (March-April) offers the famous Tulip Garden in full bloom. Autumn (September-November) is ideal for photographers and nature lovers.
Cultural Connection
Surat’s rich textile tradition finds kinship in Kashmir’s Pashmina and silk weaving heritage. Many Surat travellers enjoy visiting Srinagar’s handicraft emporiums and bringing back authentic Kashmiri shawls and carpets.
Getting from Surat to Srinagar
Surat's airport has limited direct services to Srinagar, so many travellers connect through Mumbai, Ahmedabad or Delhi. The total journey can take most of a day, so choose connections that leave a comfortable gap and keep medicines and a warm layer in your hand luggage. Check the current timetable, and book early for Diwali and the summer holidays. Some travellers drive to Ahmedabad or Vadodara for more flights; weigh the saving against the drive. Arrive in Srinagar in daylight where you can.
When Surat travellers go
Diwali is the busiest time for Surat families, with the Gujarati New Year holidays, and also one of the best seasons, with autumn colour and cool air. April to June is the summer break, when families escape the heat for cool hills. December to February suit snow lovers. July and August bring showers and yatra traffic. Book hotels and flights two to three months ahead for Diwali, and ask us about quieter weeks.
What travellers from Surat usually ask for
Travellers from Surat often come as large family groups, sometimes with several families, who want comfort, a good vegetarian meal at every stop and clear plans. Jain food is a frequent request, and many ask for a Tempo Traveller or a mini bus to keep the group together. Many are first-time visitors who want the main sights, a houseboat night and the gondola, with time for shopping. We plan around elders and children and keep the days short.
A plan that fits a Surat schedule
A six-night plan with two nights in Srinagar, one in Gulmarg, two in Pahalgam and a last night in Srinagar suits a large family. Because the journey is long, keep the first day light, with a lakeside walk and an early dinner. Split sightseeing into morning and late afternoon with a rest at midday. For groups of ten or more, see our 14-seater and 17-seater pages, and our group tour page for how group trips work.
Packages that suit this trip
Surat travellers often want a trip long enough to justify the journey, with comfortable hotels and an easy pace.
| Package | Nights | From, per person (two travellers) |
|---|---|---|
| 4N/5D Kashmir Classic | 4N/5D | ₹13,800 |
| 5N/6D Kashmir Explorer | 5N/6D | ₹15,900 |
| 5N/6D Kashmir with a Gulmarg stay | 5N/6D | ₹16,300 |
Prices are the lowest cell in each package's own price table, per person for two travellers sharing, from Srinagar, as printed on the package page; they change with group size, season and hotel tier, and we confirm the final amount in writing before you pay. Flights are not included.
Practical notes for travellers from Surat
Surat is warm all year, so Kashmir's cold is the main change: carry layers in every season and proper winter clothing from November to February. Keep ID for every traveller, medicines in hand luggage and a copy of bookings. Ask your operator about mobile coverage, since prepaid connections from other states may not work in Jammu and Kashmir. Pack soft bags that fit a vehicle with a group's luggage.
Shopping and gifts
Many Surat families want to bring gifts home: shawls, dry fruit, saffron and handicrafts. Plan a shopping afternoon in Srinagar rather than rushing at the end, and buy from shops we recommend. Check weights and seals on saffron and dry fruit, and ask for receipts. Our handicrafts shopping guide explains what is worth buying and how to avoid the common traps.
Making a group trip easy
A trip with many families succeeds on small details: one shared list of names, ID and food needs; a single contact for the driver and hotels; and a spare hour in each day. We suggest early dinners in the hills, short rests after lunch and one free evening. Tell us who is travelling, and we plan the days so that no one is left waiting in the cold.
How booking works
Tell us your dates, the number of adults, children and seniors, your food needs, including Jain meals, and the style of stay. We suggest a plan and confirm hotels, vehicle and inclusions in writing. You book the flights, and we fit the plan to your arrival and departure. For large groups, book early.
