Why a Swift

The Swift is the sensible small car for Kashmir. It is light, responsive and economical, it fits through the narrow lanes of old Srinagar and it is simple to park at a viewpoint. For two or three people with a few bags, there is little reason to pay for more car. For a bigger family, move to an Ertiga or Innova.

What it is good at, and what it is not

On the main valley roads it is a pleasure to drive: Srinagar to the Mughal gardens, to Gulmarg, to Pahalgam and to Sonmarg. It is a small car, so it has less ground clearance than an SUV, and rough surfaces and snow call for care; for a high pass or a rough track, an SUV such as the Scorpio or Thar is better.

The famous gardens of Srinagar, the snow meadows of Gulmarg, the quiet Betaab Valley and the Lidder river road are all comfortable in a Swift in the warmer months. Winter and spring driving needs more care on the hills, and we advise on conditions before you set off.
